Cellulaze: First FDA approved Laser Cellulite Treatment
What is Cellulite?
Cellulite is dimpling of the skin observed primarily in women. Cellulite is most prominent in the pelvic area of the body, the legs, and the belly.
It is caused by the protrusion of subcutaneous fat through connective tissue layers in affected areas of the body. Essentially, fat deposits just beneath the outer layer of the skin are responsible for the "orange-peel" topography that is identified as "cellulite". Though cellulite is considered normal, many women dislike the appearance of it and seek out treatment options to get rid of it.
Because cellulite occurs almost exclusively in women, many experts believe that it is caused by certain hormonal conditions in the body. In particular, estrogen has been blamed for the presence of cellulite on the body; however, evidence is sparse and inconclusive.
Ways to Treat Cellulite
There are several treatment options available for the removal of cellulite. Massage therapies specifically aimed at cellulite reduction purportedly increase the flow of lymph, helping to disintegrate cellulite. Various energy wavelengths have also been used to reduce the amount of cellulite in target areas of the body. Heat, ultrasound, radio waves, and magnetic waves have all been used to target stubborn cellulite deposits. Radial waves, electrical impulses, and a procedure known as Endermologie have all been utilized in the treatment of cellulite.
A variety of different drug therapies have also been utilized to help reduce cellulite in target areas on the body. Pharmaceuticals and herbs have been topically applied to the skin, taken orally, and given by injection to stimulate the desired results.
Some women with severe cellulite issues wear compression garments in an attempt to stimulate blood flow to the target area while simultaneously reducing the appearance of the fatty tissues under the skin.
Liposuction techniques and dieting have not been particularly successful at getting rid of cellulite; however, by losing weight, the appearance of cellulite can be diminished, though the cellulite itself remains intact. A healthy diet and exercise can improve the appearance of cellulite on the body. Liposuction can be an alternative solution to the problem.
